Cessna 310 – 26 Years of Consistency

In late 1954, the Cessna 310 entered the market. Unlike Piper’s Apache, Cessna 310 lived a long, healthy life before finally retiring in 1981. During the 26 years the Cessna aircraft survived, it developed from a five-seater aircraft with pressure-carbureted engines to a magnificent six-seater that was turbocharged and had icing certification. 

Cessna 310 Specifications

The Cessna 310 is entirely made of metal and has four to six seats on it. It has a low wing, along with a twin-engine aircraft. Moreover, the Cessna is furnished with the retractable tricycle landing gear. 

Since the Cessna has a standard category certification, it is not allowed for spins and aerobatic maneuvers. The airplane’s functions are only limited to VRF/IFR operations that can be performed during the day or night. However, it needs to follow F.A.R. 91 or F.A.R 135.

 Moreover, the Cessna aircraft comes with two horizontally opposed Continental Model 1O-520-Ms engines. These are air-cooled, aspirated, six cylindered, direct dive engines. They have a horsepower of 285 each. 

Two main tanks are part of the fuel system, along with two auxiliary tanks that are optional, and two wing locker tanks, which are also optional. The Cessna 310 has some fuel selectors that allow options between main, auxiliary, and crossfeed components. The main tanks consist of sealed tanks made of aluminum, which are organized on the tip of each aircraft wing. Each of these is loaded with a transfer pump and auxiliary fuel pump. 

The wing locker fuel tanks, which are optional, lie towards the front of the wing, near the locker baggage region. The tanks resemble bladder-sort cells, which aid the quantity of the primary tank fuel. Each of the Cessna aircraft’s engines comes with a fuel pump, which is mechanically driven. This supplies fuel to the metering unit. The cockpit hides a fuel quantity gauge, fuel flow gauge, and warning light. 

The aircraft has a 24-volt battery, is 28-volt in total, and has a current electrical system charged with the help of an alternator located on either engine.

The owners of the Cessna 310 claim that the airplane’s parts are readily available. However, just like any model, the costs can be high. Even though there have been some reported problems with the gear, there are no other recurring issues when it comes to the Cessna. Keeping in mind the total age of the aircraft and the complicated workings of the machine, this aircraft is known to be one of the best in the industry.
